MANY people signed up to attend Married at First Sight 2016.More than 1,500 people applied to participate in the first series, but the experts limited them to just three couples.

2
But the first series was postponed because TOO MANY people were scared.Channel 4 was reportedly forced to postpone Married At First Sight UK twice due to applicants' fears.

3
They take matchmaking VERY seriously.Married At First Sight has a panel of experts, including evolutionary anthropologist Anna Machin, psychosexual therapist and psychologist Jo Coker, psychology professor Dr. Mark Coulson, and Reverend Father Nick Devenish, working together to match singles. They really want this experiment to work.

4
This means that the application process is INTENSIVE.The experts took candidates through workshops, interviews, background checks, various personality tests, and questionnaires (some of which can take up to 12 hours) until they found 15 candidates with particularly strong matches. They further reduced this by considering culprits like smoking. In the end, three strong couples were identified and brought together for the first series, although only two of them made it down the aisle!

5
Marriage is a civil ceremony. To avoid criticism from religious groups, all Married At First Sight weddings begin with a civil ceremony. Here you can get more information about the legalities and requirements for a civil marriage.

e4
6
Are weddings at first sight real?yes they are great A marriage certificate, which contains important information about the spouse, is required for a legal marriage, and couples sign it immediately after the ceremony.

e4
7
But you DO get legal protection if it all goes wrong.Speaking to The Wrap, Chris Coelen, who works on the US version of the show, explained: "There's a prenuptial agreement built in. ], so they're leaving the marriage. "We want to give them some protection when they come in. If for some reason they don't It works, at least it's covered with this basic form. You won't get into any legal trouble. Once they're married, it's up to them."

e4
8
Couples will NOT be paid to attend. As Jessie J would say, it's not about money, money, money.

e4
9
But they have all the honeymoon expenses paid.So that's something, huh?

e4
10
They have to live together for six weeks.Yes, couples live together as husband and wife for six weeks; in the end, they decide whether to stay together or break up. As you can imagine, the former does not usually happen.

e4
11
Some of the couples did NOT know it was going to be televised.Waiting for it Contestant Emma Rathbone, who married James Ord-Hume for the first series of the show, told This Morning: "At first I didn't realize it was going to be televised. I find the TV part very difficult".

e4
12
The first season ended entirely in divorce.Yes, all the couples broke up after six weeks. A couple, Jason and Kate, broke up just two weeks after their wedding after Jason was found on Tinder. Another couple (Sam and Jack) broke up before their wedding, but in a bizarre twist, they secretly met after the show finished filming...but then broke up. And the latest couple, James and Emma, were together after their February-November wedding, but split after saying it "didn't feel natural." And a bit forced. It is funny.

e4
13
The program will help pay for the divorce, but there is a problem.According to the executive producer of the US show, Married At First Sight will not cover divorce costs if the couple divorces. He added that they only provide legal assistance "within a certain period of time" to cover legal costs, even though the amount provided is very small.

14
You can apply to participate. To apply, send your name, phone number, age, city, and email address to:casadoatfirstsight@cplproductions.co.uk.

e4
15
But you must NOT have been married before.According to the Channel 4 website, you can only apply if you have no children and have never been married. They are very traditional, of course.

sixteen
And they need to know your physical data.Yes, they need to do a DNA test and will ask for your physical information, such as hip/waist ratio for women and hip/shoulder ratio for men.

17
The show originated from DENMARK.... where none of the couples who walked down the aisle stayed married, we'd like to point out.

18
There are many other versions of Married At First Sight. It is broadcast in the US, Australia, Germany, Finland and Bulgaria, which have spawned successful syndicates.

e4
19
However, it sparked controversy. The show particularly angered people in Australia, and the public started a petition to have it taken off the air. They said: "This TV show is a disgrace. It is morally reprehensible and should not be shown on Australian TV."

e4
21
Couples are contractually bound to remain married during filming.2019 couple Jonathan and Stephanie broke up literally days after their wedding, sending media coverage into a whirlwind.kleinstrange.

e4
20
There are some success stories. But unfortunately not on this side of the pond. Jamie Otis and Doug Hehner from the American series are still going strong and have had a daughter, and their co-stars Cortney Hendrix and Jason Carrion are still married.

e4
22
Many MAFS stars have made money from their experience. In 2016, Clark Sherwood began writing about his marriage for various publications, and of course, Ben Jardine became one.True Z-list celebrity on her own.

One fan took to the comments to show the reality of what they thought of his participation in MAFS, writing: "I miss you in MAFS, you were one of the true ones that I enjoyed watching 😍❤️". "Love you so much MAFS Heidi! ❤️💕," added another. On the show, viewers watched as Heidi reportedly married Australian heartthrob Mike Gunner.Their relationship phone call ends a few days after the wedding.. Heidi is said to have ended the marriage after feeling that her new husband "felt pressure to say he loved her".
Now, two years later, the blonde is still working in radio, and judging by her beaming smile on Instagram, she's just as happy as Larry. Heidi made fun of her, um, rather awkward toes, captioning this snap: "Toes longer than fingers 😂." OK. Meanwhile, on her ex-husband's Instagram, the 43-year-old showed off her new girlfriend (who looks a bit like Heidi if you ask us 👀), Sonja Marcelline. Need. @sonjamarcelline". Did he... just throw shadows at Heidi? In response to her new boyfriend's statement, Sonja wrote: "You make me smile @mikekangaroo 🥰 I also love that your hugs are the best, your voice is delicious and you make sure I never get dehydrated or hungry 🍽😂. "I wouldn't want you any other way than just you! 😘"
